H.R. Brown, the Auditor of
Lawrence County, is a native of Pennsylvania but has resided
in the country for 29 years and previous to his election to this
office was engaged in the iron business. In 1872 Mr. Brown
was Sergeant of Arms of the 62nd General Assembly of
Ohio. In the late war he enlisted with the Kentucky
Volunteers as a private and mustered out as Captain of the 39th
Kentucky Infantry. Mr. Brown is prominent in fraternal
organizations, being a member of the G.A.R., I.O.O.F., K.P.
and Elks. The duties of his office have been discharged
faithfully and well, and he is amply qualified to fill the position
with honor to himself and the country. He is a Republican in
politics.
