Nathaniel Burcham
PROCTORVILLE CIVIL WAR VET IS FATALLY INJURED
IN FALL
The ranks of Lawrence county civil war veterans were
further depleted last night at 11:30 o'clock when Nathaniel Burcham,
popular veteran of Proctorville died at his home at the age of 91
years.
Mr. Burcham had been in failing health for the last year but
he seemed in unusually good spirits during Wednesday. Late in the he
was engaged in gardening at his home when he fell and struck his head.
The injury brought death about six hours later.
The body will be at the Schneider funeral home at Chesapeake
until Saturday when it will be taken to the home in Proctorville.
Funeral services will be conducted at Perkins Ridge Baptist church
Sunday at ten-thirty a. m. by Rev. K. C. Cochran, with interment in
Ridge cemetery.
Surviving Mr. Burcham are four children, Clarence of Scottown,
Mrs. Al Thornton of Proctorville, Greer Burcham of Galva, Ill., and
Alasco Burcham of Columbus. His wife preceded him in death several
years ago.
