CIVIL WAR SOLDIER OBIT

Jacob Cornell

Jacob Cornell was living in Mason Township, Lawrence County, Ohio on Sept. 2, 1861, when at the age of 22 he enlisted at Ceredo, (W)VA with Company E, 5th. Reg. Infantry for 3 years. (West Virginia Volunteer Infantry). He was mustered out on Oct. 4, 1864 at Wheeling WV.

Jacob was born in 1838 and died March 20, 1888. At the time of his death he was living at Aid Township, Lawrence County, OH and was a farmer.

On Dec. 29, 1864, he was married by Justice of the Peace; Squire Massie to Mary Ellen McCaffrey (born 1846, died 1888) and they had the following children:
Sarah, Martha, Mary Ida, Charles Sanford, Laura and Isabella.
