Obit of William Defoe
Civil War Vet

        William Defoe, age 81 years, Civil War Veteran of Proctorville, Ohio, died this morning at six o’clock, at the Guthrie Hospital, Huntington, after an illness of three weeks. Mr. Defoe is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Fosse, of New Lexington, O., and two sons, Ed Defoe of Huntington and Otis Defoe of Proctorville, at home, five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

        Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, at 2 o’clock, at the home, by Rev. Hardin, with burial in Rome Cemetery in charge of Undertaker Schneider, of Chesapeake.

        James Defoe, a brother of the deceased, also a Civil War veteran preceded him in death one week ago last Saturday.

        Mr. Defoe was a member of Rome Methodist Church.
