Obituary of a Civil War Veteran
Samuel Hardy Died
Samuel Hardy of Aid township,
after a visit to Ironton on Tuesday, retired in apparently good health
Tuesday night, but was seized with an attack of heart disease and
expired before medical aid could be summoned.
The deceased was about 64
years of age and served with the Fifth West Virginia Infantry during
the civil war. He leaves a young wife and four children by a former
wife. The children are: Edward Hardy and Mrs. Anna Hughes of Ironton,
and John and William Hardy, now with the U. S. army in the Philippine
islands.
The remains were brought here
and taken to the residence of Edward Hardy at 37 Pine street, where
the funeral services were held Friday morning. Interment at Woodland.
