Mr. Hoover penned his own obituary some months ago as follows:

William H. Hoover, son of Aaron Hoover and Delilah Hoover, was born Nov. 3, 1847 in Morgan county, Ohio. He was reared in Washington county, enlisted in the Civil War at Marietta Feb. ?4, 1865, and served in Company D, 77th Ohio Regiment. He served under General Camby at the siege of Spanish Fork and in the battle of Whistler Station and participated in skirmishes at McIntosh Bluff in Illinois. He was sent from Mobile over the Gulf of Mexico to Texas for service at Browne, Texas. He wrote:

"I was taken ill and it was said at the hospital I would die but by the mercy of God my life was spared to a good old age and I thank God for his loving care. I came to Lawrence county in March, 1868, was married to Jemima Nelson Dec. 17, 1868, and to this union five children were born. All are dead but two, Mary Hoover Betts of Delaware, Ohio. William A. Hoover of Shelby, Ohio. Jemima Hoover died May 8, 1878, and I was married to Hannah Christian Feb. 22, 1880, and one child was born. Hannah Christian Hoover died in January, 1901. I was married to Lutricia Bowen Dec. 9, 1904, and she died August 3, 1923. I was married to Rebecca Barnett Sept. 25, 1925 and she died Nov. 16, 1930.

I will leave two children, 24 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren. My life work is almost ended. When I am taken away to go home to Heaven, when all is joy, peace and love.
