FATAL HOUSE
Submitted by Martha J. Kounse
SOURCE: Ironton Register January 12, 1871
Within four or five years, there have been as many unusual
deaths, happen in a room of the long brick house, on the corner of
Sixth & Olive (now Park Ave-mk) Sts.
First, old man Razor died there about four years ago, of a sore
hand, that was not thought dangerous. Next, an old man by the name
of Ostenmyer hung himself in the same room about three years ago.
Then last summer, Joe Weitz died from the effects of being run
over by a wagon. Lastly, on last Saturday morning, Jacob Colahouse
who occupied the room, arose about five o'clock, built a fire, and
laid down again. After awhile, his wife called him, and failing to
get an answer, went to the bed and found him stone dead. All these
fatalities happened in the same room. The feeling is getting
current that is its unlucky to live there and that spirits form
the other world have blasted the apartment.
