IR Aug. 17, 1854 - The walls of the Welsh Congregational Church are up, and the roof on. It will be a most comfortable and good looking edifice. Also the walls of the Baptist Church are going up. It will be the largest and finest church in town.

IR Sept. 13, 1860 - The Ohio Baptist Association held its Fortieth Anniversary in Ironton, last week, and the attendance was good...

IR Feb. 9, 1865 - Rev. J. B. Sharp, pastor of the First Baptist Church of this place, has, we learn accepted a call to a church in Zanesville. - He leaves for his new pastorate next week.

IR Jan. 9, 1868 - Dedication. - The Baptist Church, having completed their main audience room, will commence worshiping there next Sabbath. The opening or dedicatory services will be held in the afternoon at 3 o’clock. The public are invited to meet with them and participate in the opening exercises. The evening exercises will commence at 6 1/2 o’clock.

IJ Jan. 1, 1872 - Rev. P. P. Kennedy accepts the pastorate of the Baptist Church.

IR Nov. 7, 1872 - Someone started to paint the Baptist church steeple, but having painted as far up as he could reach, he had to stop and is now wondering how they got that infernal ball on the top of the spire.

IR Feb. 2, 1888 - The new Storms Creek Baptist church was occupied for the first time last Sunday. Rev. J. H. Willis is conducting a protracted meeting there.

IR Sept. 13, 1888 - Ancient Record - First Baptist Society in This County...an old record book of the First Baptist church..It is over 70 years old and contains the minutes of the church meetings back to 1815; ...

IR Oct. 16, 1890 - Rev. B. F. Ashley, formerly pastor of the first Baptist Church of Ironton, is now pastor of a Presbyterian church, on the Hudson, not far from Albany, New York. Mr. Ashley was one of the most cultured gentlemen that ever lived in Ironton.

IR Jan. 23, 1902 - An obituary in the Greenup (Ky) Democrat of today says: “Mrs. Sarah Davisson (nee Brammer) ...was born in Lawrence county, Ohio, Aug. 5, 1821. Died at Oldtown, Greenup Co., Ky., Jan. 19, 1902...Her parents Joseph Brammer and Nancy Lee were natives of Patrick county, Va., the “Old Dominion,” the latter, as indicated by the name, a close relative of the Lee family whose history is a part of the warp and woof of that grand old commonwealth. After coming west and residing for many years in Lawrence county, Ohio, they removed about the year 1818, to Greenup county, Ky., and settled in the Ohio bottom just above Greenup. Sarah Brammer married Daniel B. Davisson, August 27, 1850. To this union was born one child, Madison Davisson, an honored and respected citizen, who, with his loved family, resides in Greenup. - She joined the Storms Creek church (now First Baptist church of Ironton) in 1851...

MI July 8, 1914 - The work on the repairing of the Baptist steple [sic] was begun yesterday. The high steple [sic] is being removed and the towers will be left as they are.

IT May 16, 1951 - In the case of Calvin Payne, et al, against the unknown heirs of John Campbell, founder of Ironton, the court barred any interests of the unknown heirs of John Campbell in the property at issue, lot 6, Ohio Iron and Coal Company subdivision in Upper Township. The property is that of the Storms Creek Baptist Church. The original deed contained a reversion clause that in case the property ceased to be used for church purposes it reverted to the heirs. The restriction is now voided by court order.
