KILLED BY TRAIN
The following obit is taken from the
Ironton Register dated 20 August 1903,
Thursday, transcribing it exactly as it is written.
KILLED BY TRAIN
Daniel Boyce one of the veteran residents of Ironton
employed as lamp tender
for the Norfolk & Western railroad company, was run down and
killed, late
Tuesday afternoon, while crossing the net-work of tracks at
the round house.
He apparently did not see or hear the approaching train.
Although (illegible) were shouted to him.
The deceased was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
He leaves a large family, all grown.
NOTE: Daniel Boyce was husband to Katherine O'Keefe - Boyce
who is niece to
Charles Boyce, one of the founders of the present day O'Keefe
Funeral Home.
