Jno. Vermillion, Sr., son of Uriah Vermillion Sr., married
Elizabeth Cumpston in Jan. 1819, and on March 1st, 1819, settled
in the S. E. quarter of S. 1, T. 4, Range 17, where he now lives.
He was justice of the peace ___ years; and Land Appraiser for
Symmes, Aid, Mason and Windsor townships in 1853. He is a cobbler,
steady, industrious, clever man and was esteemed by all who know
him. Of his children, Charity married Jno. Lee, son of Jno.
Brammer, and lives in Windsor Township. Green married, Sarah,
daughter of Wm. McCartney, and lives in Symmes township. Harriet
married Joseph, son of James Culter Darling and lives in Waterloo.
Of her children, John married Ellen, daughter of Thos. Griffith,
and lives in S. 21, T. 5, R. 17. Geo. Married Sarah Ellen,
daughter of Wm. E. Thomas and lives in Waterloo.
Thos. Dalton, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Dalton, married
Nancy, daughter of Wm. and Mildred Taylor, in Pennsylvania county,
Va. and moved to Ice Creek in this county and from there to Stiver
farm, thence to Center furnace, which he helped to build, then
settled in S. 6, where he lived until 1868 and sold out to Walter
Neal and moved to where he now lives in Sec. 1 of Windsor
township. He is a farmer, a good clever, sober, industrious
citizen. By his first wife he had Mildred and Wm., who married
Mary, daughter of Wm. McCartney. She died and he moved near
Culbertson’s furnace. Thos. Jr. went to Ky. Chas. Married Rebecca,
daughter of Isaac Peyton, and lives in S. 11. Robert married a
daughter of Ruben Lambert and moved to Tenn. Berry married Polley,
daughter of J. M. Dean, and lives in S. 7. Washington married
Sarah Ellen, daughter of Margaret Null, and lives in S. 28, T. 2,
R. 15. Mildred married O. P., son of J. C. Stewart and is dead.
Agnes and Frances died single. Mary married Chas. Son of Nealy and
is dead. Geo. Dalton married Dinesia, daughter of Thos. and
Elizabeth Dalton, in Pennsylvania county, Va., and moved to the N.
E. quarter of S. 6, where he sold and now lives on the head of
Pancake branch of Storm’s creek. Of their children, Thos. married
Mary Ann, daughter of Henry Dalton, and lives in Upper township.
Geo. Jr. married Hester Ann, daughter of L. M. Doughty, and lives
at Buckhorn furnace. Berry married Martha, daughter of Rev. Wm.
Smith, and is dead. Chas. Edward married Susan, daughter of James
Dennen, and lives in Upper township. Wm. died single. William Jr.
married Lovina, daughter of Enoch Neal, and lives on Aaron’s
creek. Jno. married Jane, daughter of Gidean Hutchinson, and lives
in Waterloo.
Daniel Neal, son of Walter Neal, married Lydia, daughter of
Enoch _yers (Syers?) and after several years settled and bought in
S. 3, where he died. He had lived at several furnaces. He was a
farmer and a trader. Of his children, Mary married Jack Scott and
moved to Arkansas and died. Her child, Chas., married in Scioto
county. Daniel Sr.’s child, Jno. married Dorcas, daughter of
Robert Day. Of his children, Martha married Alfred, son of Enoch
Loper. He died and she married Mr. Wilcox and lives in Kansas.
Daniel married a daughter of D. C. Clarkson. Lydia married John,
son of Jno. Bowen. Mary married James, son of Enoch Loper; Anna
married John, son of James Dennen. Tabitha married John, son of
Mary Ann Delawder. Daniel Sr’s child, Delila, married Peter, son
of Joshua Jones, and moved west. Frances married Jacob Wullom and
lives in Gallia county, Walter married Ann, daughter of Robert and
Mary Day, and lives in Sec. 4. Of his children, Mary Jane married
Hughey, son of Jos. McIntyre, and moved to Wis. Robert married
Mary Ann, daughter of Squire Walters, and lives in Wis. Lydia
married Nathan, son of Lewis Massie, and is dead. Jno. married
Susan, daughter of Elias Walters and lives in this township.
